Intersections

To enable better and safer movement for bicycles, pedestrians and motor vehicles, the bike network makes use of new intersection treatments at certain points.

Separated cycleway bend out intersection

At some intersections the separated cycleway will bend out, away from the road, to create a separate, bicycle priority crossing.

The distance between the bicycle crossing and the main intersection lets a turning vehicle stop away from the flow of traffic before giving way at the bicycle crossing. It also gives a vehicle approaching the intersection the space to store at the intersection after crossing the cycleway.

This makes movement easier for drivers and safer for bicycles.
