Johnstons Canal shared path upgrade

The City of Sydney has recently improved Johnstons Canal path, a much loved recreational route linking Sydney Harbour to the inner west.

The path also forms a section of the route which will link the University of Sydney and the University of NSW.

The existing path was a well-used, but disjointed, route running from Bicentennial Park to Wigram Road, Forest Lodge.

The improvements have given pedestrians and bike riders a wider path with new park furniture, native tree planting, and better lighting. Speed-limiting devices and clear signs will be included to make the path safer for both pedestrians and bike riders.

The plans have been prepared in conjunction with Leichhardt Council, the local community and other interested parties.
