Report a Hazard
We are continually working to make riding a bike as safe and convenient an option for getting around the city as walking or catching public transport.
Hazards cover a range of situations which affect the safety and enjoyment of your ride. These can include:
- Pot holes and other issues with the road surface;
- Illegally parked vehicles
- Faulty traffic signals
If you know of a hazard or potential hazard please report it. Your information is vital to improving bike routes in the City of Sydney.

City of Sydney
To report a hazard in the City of Sydney council area, whether that hazard is on the street network or the bike network please use the:
Roads and Maritime Services
The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) look after all arterial roads as well as traffic lights across the street network.
Hazards that you should report to the RMS are:
- Urgent incidents such as traffic accidents
- Pot holes on arterial roads
- Illegally parked vehicles
- Faulty traffic signals
To report a hazard to the RMS, please contact their Transport Management Centre on 131 700 and select from the appropriate option given by the automated voice menu.
Local councils
Local councils look after most streets within the street network. To report a hazard on one of these streets please contact your local council directly.
